Keep Tabs on Tons of Environmental Factors with Sensordrone for Android
The Sensordrone is a futuristic gadget with a dozen sensors that pairs with Android smartphones and measures environmental factors, such as weather and humidity, air quality, levels of nearby harmful gases and more.
The Sensordrone is a small gadget that attaches to a keychain, and it's crammed with a variety of sensors that can help monitor the environment around you. Data captured by the sensors is transmitted via Bluetooth to an Android smartphone or tablet, where it is analysed and interpreted by associated mobile applications. According to the team behind this new Kickstarter project, Sensordrone has more sensors than “anything else available." And it should become officially available in the fall of 2012.

The Sensordrone has a total of 12 sensors, including a precision electrochemical-gas sensor that measures carbon monoxide levels. The gas sensor can also be used to measure alcohol levels, hydrogen, oxidizing gases such as chlorine, ozone, methane, propane and other hydrocarbons. The gadget also has a non-contact thermometer and pressure sensor, as well as digital and analog interfaces for connecting external devices to add additional functionalities.

- Find gas leaks
- Measure alcohol content
- Measure your child’s temperature
- Log the weather
- Light intensity meter
- Work as a Barometer and Altimeter
- Check the current humidity
Sensordrone mobile apps will be open source, and the manufacturer plans to release API and sample code for developers. The Sensordrone is designed to work with Android devices initially, but it could be released for iOS, BlackBerry, and Windows Phone platforms in the future.
The Sensordrone will cost $199, but it will be available for a limited time for $175 when it's first released. (Add $15 for international shipments). The final product is expected to ship in October 2012. Currently more than 500 people have signed up to fund the project and purchase a Sensordrone.
